
#WTEN Opens A-Sun Play at Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson

FT. MYERS, Fla.—The University of North Florida women's tennis team opens Atlantic Sun Conference play at Florida Gulf Coast on Friday morning and then visits Stetson Saturday afternoon.
"We are excited to start conference matches this weekend," said head coach Audra Cohen. "We have played a lot of tough matches in the last two weeks, so I feel that we are match ready and looking forward to a good battle on Friday and Saturday."
In the Ospreys' last outing, they fell 7-0 to then No. 14 Clemson last Sunday in North Miami Beach, Fla. Michelle Valdez put up a tough fight for North Florida forcing her match to a second-set tiebreaker against Jessy Rompies. Simona Weymar, Esther Zuniga and Rebeca Pereira all battled against nationally-ranked players in their matches.
FGCU enters the match with an 8-7 record. In their last outing, they beat Stetson 5-2 at the FGCU Tennis Complex on Wednesday. The Eagles clinched the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spot against the Hatters. FGCU followed that up with wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles to win the match.
Stetson enters the match with a 10-3 record. They fell 5-2 to FGCU in their last outing. All three of the Hatters losses have come on the road. Diane Bukajeva enters the match with an 11-2 dual match record at No. 1 singles. Bukajeva and Isabella Fernandez hold a 8-3 record at No. 1 doubles, while Lindsey Cable and Eveline Lepiany boast a 9-3 record at No. 3 doubles.
The Ospreys face Florida Gulf Coast at 10 a.m., at the FGCU Tennis Complex on Friday. North Florida faces Stetson at 2 p.m., on Saturday at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
