Season Best Round Vaults #MGolf to 4th at Schenkel

STATESBORO, Ga. -- With four players shooting rounds under par, the North Florida men's golf team climbed to fourth place after posting a season best 278 in second round play of the Schenkel Invitational.
With their 10-under performance on Saturday, the Ospreys own a 36-hole total of 569, just seven shots behind tournament leader Georgia Southern.
Sophomore Austin Padova led the charge for UNF firing a career-best 68 (-4). Junior All-American MJ Maguire (69), junior Joey Petronio (70) and Taylor Hancock (71) joined Padova with scores under par in round two.
Senior Taylor Johnson rounds out the Osprey lineup with a two-day total of 157 including his second round 77. Additionally a pair of UNF players are competing as individuals at the event with redshirt freshman Osten Waite (73) tied for 28th at 145 and sophomore Joe Stepnes (79) tied for 64th at 151.
Maguire and Hancock are currently tied with several other players in third place at 139, one shot behind medalist co-leaders Martin Rohwer of UAB and Texas' Kramer Hickok.
Tournament host Georgia Southern sits atop the team leaderboard at 562 (-14) with UAB in second at 566. College of Charleston is third at 567 followed by UNF, Texas (573), UCF (573), Georgia State (574), Virginia (575), Ole Miss (583), North Carolina State (585), Kentucky (586), Florida (590), Duke (591), Maryland (602) and North Texas (605).
Play concludes at the Schenkel with a final round Sunday, beginning at 8:30 with a shotgun start. North Florida will be paired with Texas and UCF for final round action.
