JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Ospreys will begin Atlantic Sun play this weekend as they host USC Upstate for a three-game series at Harmon Stadium. The two teams open up on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. and will play at 1:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Atlantic Sun Opener: North Florida and USC Upstate are two of six teams that begin Atlantic Sun play this weekend. The Ospreys are coming off an 18-win, third place finish last season. The Spartans were 9-18 in A-Sun play in 2013. The Ospreys won 10 games at Harmon Stadium last season while Upstate struggled, winning only four conference games on the road.

About USC Upstate: The Spartans come into the weekend with an 8-11 record. Early in the season, the Spartans took down then No. 25 Kentucky, 8-6 at home. Last weekend the Upstate won two of three against La Salle in Spartanburg. In the last six games the Spartans have recorded 10 or more hits in four times.

Series History: USC Upstate and North Florida first met on March 19, 1989, with the Ospreys coming away with a 4-0 win. UNF went on to win the first 22 games of the series and have won 34 of the 40 games played. In the past two seasons, the road team has won the regular season series. UNF took two out of three in Spartanburg last season, outscoring the Spartans 24-11 in the three-game set.

Big Inning Win: North Florida erupted for seven runs in the seventh inning against Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday night, aiding in a 12-7 victory. Garrick Ferguson and Corbin Olmstead each homered in the inning to power the Osprey offense. The Wildcats held the lead in the contest a total of four times but were unable to respond over the final two innings.

RBI Spark Plugs: Senior Ryan Roberson returned to the lineup this week and drove in three runs against Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday night. Two-way player Corbin Olmstead blasted his first career home run against the Wildcats and has driven in three runs in his last two games. The two have a combined for 25 at bats, five runs and six RBIs since returning to the lineup.

Place in UNF History: Senior Alex Bacon is steadily moving up the ranks many of the UNF Division I career records. The outfielder moved into ninth place on the Division I all-time games started list, making his 131st start on Wednesday. With a possible three games started this weekend he will take over sole possession of seventh place, surpassing current Assistant Coach, Andrew Hannon who made 133 career starts from 2007-11. Bacon ranks seventh in runs scored (91), fourth in doubles (36) and fifth in home runs (19) on the Division I career list.
