#WGolf Finishes 3rd at Inaugural UNF Intercollegiate

JACKSONVILLE – The North Florida women's golf team carded a final round 315 en route to finishing third in the inaugural UNF Intercollegiate at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.
The Ospreys completed their home event with a 54-hole total of 933, just three shots behind runner-up Daytona State. Sophomore Kelly Aylwin was UNF's top performer overall and in the final round posting a 4-over 76 for a ninth-place finish at 231.
Fellow sophomore Emelie Alpe joined Aylwin in the Top 10, finishing 10th at 232 including her final round 80. UNF's freshman duo of Lauren Coe and Nathalie Nygren both recorded career best showings, finishing tied for 14th and 19th, respectively. Coe fired a 79 on Tuesday for a three-round total of 235, while Nygren shot an 80 for a total of 238.
Sophomore Mary Rodgers tied for 40th at 245 to round out the Osprey lineup. Additionally, Belinda George finished 18th at 237 competing as an individual.
Western Carolina led wire-to-wire in claiming the team title with a score of 919. Daytona State finished at 930 with UNF, Eastern Kentucky (941) and Old Dominion (944) rounding out the Top 5 squads. Morehead State was sixth at 961 followed by Jacksonville (962), McNeese State (962), James Madison (966), Southern Illinois (966), Charleston Southern (973), Belmont (992), Austin Peay (1004) and Appalachian State (1015).
Daytona sophomore Tiffany Chan captured the medalist crown with a 2-over total of 218.
North Florida will take a couple weeks off before returning to competition at the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational on Mar. 23-25 at Juliette Falls in Ocala, Fla.
