#MGolf Vaults to Top of Leaderboard at Sea Best Invitational

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Before darkness halted play on Monday, the North Florida men's golf team rallied from seven shots behind to grab the lead at the Sea Best Invitational hosted by Jacksonville at the TPC Sawgrass PLAYERS Stadium Course.
The Ospreys opened play with a 298 (+10) before blistering the course at a six-under pace with just two holes remaining in round two. UNF currently sits at four-over for the tournament, two strokes in front of round one leader No. 37 Liberty. The Flames posted a 291 opening round and were +3 in round two when darkness came.
Sophomore Austin Padova leads a quartet of UNF players currently ranked among the event's Top 10 individuals. Padova is two-under in round two following an even par 72 during the morning session and holds a one shot advantage on No. 20 ranked Ben Crancer of Texas A&M.
Padova is joined among the leaders by junior teammates Joey Petronio (T5th) and MJ Maguire (T7th) along with sophomore Taylor Hancock (T9th). Petronio also opened the day with an even par and was a 1-over thru 16 holes in round two, while Maguire, the No. 58 ranked golfer nationally, was at 3-under in the afternoon round after a 77 (+5) to start the day. Hancock shot a morning round 77 and was 2-under through 16 in round two.
Redshirt freshman Osten Waite rounded out the Osprey lineup in a tie for 75th.
Trailing UNF and Liberty in the team competition was No. 9 Texas A&M, currently sitting at 20-over for the event. No. 48 Tennessee was fourth at +27 followed by USC Upstate (+30), Florida (+32), Winthrop (+35), ETSU (+37), FGCU (+41), Cal Poly (+43), Jacksonville State (+49), ECU (+51), Pepperdine (+52), Jacksonville (+57), FAU (+58) and Old Dominion (+58).
Second round play will resume at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Teams will be regrouped based on their 36-hole totals and begin final round play at approximately 10 a.m. with a shotgun start. The top three teams will be grouped together and begin play on holes 1-3.
The Sea Best Invitational is open to the public with free admission. Fans can also follow the action via live scoring results at GolfStat.com.
