MACON, Ga.-- The North Florida basketball team closes its regular season schedule with a pair of road games beginning Thursday night against league leader Mercer at Hawkins Arena.
The Ospreys (14-15, 8-8 ASun) enter Thursday's game looking to finalize their spot in the upcoming Atlantic Sun Conference tournament. UNF is currently tied with Lipscomb for the fifth-seed with two games remaining.
North Florida is looking to get back on the winning track after dropping a pair of games to ETSU and USC Upstate last week. In their last outing against the Bucs, senior Travis Wallace closed out his home career with 19 points and eight rebounds.
The Bears (22-7, 13-3) are tied with Florida Gulf Coast atop the league standings having won four of their last five games. Mercer has enjoyed success at home this season boasting a perfect 14-0 mark in Hawkins Arena.
Thursday's game marks the 18th all-time meeting between UNF and Mercer with the Bears owning a 13-4 advantage in the series. The two squads have split their last four meetings with the Ospreys having topped the Bears, 89-83, in the pairs first meeting of the season in Jacksonville.
UNF owns just one victory over Mercer in Hawkins Arena, but the Ospreys are 3-6 in the building under North Florida head coach Matthew Driscoll including a 2-3 mark in A-Sun Tournament play.
