After 2nd Round #MGolf In 6th at The Hayt

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- After finishing up opening round play along with completing a full second round, the North Florida men's golf team sits in sixth-place with a score of 583 in The Hayt at Sawgrass Country Club.
On Monday, the Ospreys tallied a round of 2-over 290 in the completion of the suspended round one and then followed that up with a 293 (+5) in the second round.
Junior MJ Maguire, who is tied for ninth after 36 holes with a 2-under 142 (70-72), leads the UNF lineup in their home event. Sophomore's Taylor Hancock and Austin Padova ended the day in a tie for 22nd at 1-over 145. Hancock carded rounds of 71-74 while Padova tallied rounds of 73-72.
Junior Joe Stepnes is tied for 50th at 151 (76-75) and junior Joey Petronio is tied for 68th at 155 (80-75) to round of the Osprey lineup. In addition, a trio of UNF linksters are competing as individuals in the event led by redshirt freshman Osten Waite in a tie for 18th at 144 (74-70). Junior Parker Jones (76-70) and senior Taylor Johnson (72-74) are tied for 27th at 146.
"Overall, we played just average in our rounds today," said UNF head coach Scott Schroeder. "We hopefully can have a bounce back round on Tuesday. Some low scores are available on the course ane we need to take advantage of that opportunity."
No. 2-ranked Oklahoma State leads the team competition by three shots after carding a two-round total of 563. No. 6 UCF is second at 566 followed by No. 13 UAB (570), North Texas (577), GRU Augusta (582), UNF, Tulsa (586), Coastal Carolina (587), Louisville (587), Troy (590), No. 47 Tennessee (593), No. 27 Liberty (595), UNC Wilmington (603), Furman (603) and Jacksonville (605).
UAB's Sam Love tops the medalist standings with a 36-hole total of 9-under 135, while UCF's Greg Eason and Jason Roets of North Texas shared the low round honors after shooting rounds of 7-under 65 on Monday afternoon.
Tournament action in The Hayt concludes with a final round of 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. North Florida begins its last round at 8:45 a.m. off of Hole No. 1 alongside North Texas and GRU Augusta.
