
#MGolf Set To Host Hayt Collegiate at Sawgrass CC

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The No. 46-ranked North Florida men's golf team hosts its annual home event, The Hayt Collegiate Invitational, beginning Sunday at Sawgrass Country Club.
The Ospreys are the defending champions of The Hayt after a record setting performance in a rain-shortened event last year. Entering its 23rd year, the The Hayt continues to feature one of the nation's top playing fields with 13 of the 15 participating programs currently ranked in the nation's Top 100 including seven in the Top 50.
"We always look forward to hosting The Hayt," said UNF head coach Scott Schroeder. "The team is well prepared heading into competition and the course is in tremendous shape. Our tournament field is always filled with tough teams and we are excited about playing alongside Oklahoma State and Tennessee in the first round. This is event is also a great opportunity for us to play in front of a supportive home crowd."
Joining UNF for play in The Hayt this season include No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 5 UCF, No. 8 UAB, No. 24 Liberty, No. 48 Tennessee, No. 49 Louisville, UNC Wilmington, Troy, GRU Augusta, Coastal Carolina, North Texas, Tulsa, Furman and Jacksonville.
Juniors MJ Maguire and Joey Petronio will lead the Osprey lineup in the event. The junior duo will be joined by sophomores Joe Stepnes, Austin Padova and Taylor Hancock. In addition, senior Taylor Johnson, junior Parker Jones and redshirt freshman Osten Waite will compete as individuals in the competition.
The Hayt is a three-day, 54-hole team and medalist competition held on the par 72, 7,001-yard layout of Sawgrass Country Club, the original home of THE PLAYERS Championship on the PGA Tour.
The tournament has free admission and is open to the public. Tee times begin at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday with opening tee times set for 8 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday.
