LAHAINA, Hawaii -- Battling windy conditions and periodic rain on Saturday, No. 32 North Florida men's golf team slid into a tie for third after posting a second round 300 at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic.
The Ospreys are tied with No. 27 Clemson with a 36-hole total of 569. Saturday's conditions were much different than Friday's opening round as no team was able to post a score under-par.
Senior standout MJ Maguire led the way on day two carding a 1-over par 72 to move into a tie for second in medalist play with a total of 136 (-6). Fellow senior Joey Petronio joins him among the Top 10, sitting in sixth place at 139 (-3) after a 76 on Saturday.
"Today was a rough day for our guys," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "The wind blew extremely hard and it rained most of the day. We really struggled the last six or seven holes. Hopefully, it will be a good learning experience for the team. We need to get some rest tonight, refocus and look for a strong finish tomorrow."
Redshirt freshman Dillon Woods and junior Austin Padova both posted rounds of 76 on Saturday and are tied for 40th (147) and 44th (148), respectively. Junior Taylor Hancock rounds out the Osprey lineup in a tie for 55th at 151 after a round of 80. In addition, senior Parker Jones, who is playing as an individual, carded a 75 and is tied for 28th at 145.
No. 2 Oregon remained atop the team leaderboard with a two-day total of 545 (-23).
