JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of North Florida women's tennis hosts its only fall tournament this weekend when 10 of Florida's 12 Division I women's tennis programs compete in the Bedford Cup held at the UNF Tennis Complex on Friday-Sunday.

"This is a great opportunity for us to play top competition on our home courts," said head coach Audra Cohen. "I'm excited to see the girls battle all weekend and represent this program well. I am honored that UNF is able to host the Bedford Cup. We are fortunate that the Youth Tennis Foundation sponsors this event and we are grateful for the opportunity to promote this great game in the state of Florida."

The Bedford Cup is an annual competition between the Division I women's tennis programs in the state. Florida hosted the event last year.

Coming to UNF this weekend are Bethune-Cookman, Florida, Florida A&M, Florida Gulf Coast, FIU, Florida State, Miami, UCF and USF with several ranked players competing as well. There will be three ranked singles players in No. 79 Yukako Noi and No. 89 Kerrie Cartwright from Florida State and No. 89 Belinda Woolcock from Florida. Additionally, the No. 9 ranked doubles duo of Cartwright and Daniela Borthwick from Florida State will be at the Bedford Cup.

UNF already has three fall tournaments under its belt after competing at the Mercer Bear Gridiron Classic, Miami Hurricane Fall Invite and the UCF Quad Invitational. At both the Mercer Bear Gridiron Classic and the Miami Hurricane Fall Invite, an Osprey has reached the finals in either the main draw or the consolation bracket. UNF came away with seven singles wins and three doubles victories at the weather-altered UCF Quad Invitational two weeks ago.
