Men’s Soccer Concludes Preseason Against Tars

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida men's soccer team will host its final preseason exhibition match on Saturday evening. The Ospreys will host the Rollins Tars at 6:00 p.m. at Patton Park. Admission to the exhibition is FREE.

UNF enters the match on the heels of a 0-0 tie against Georgia Southern on Sunday, Aug. 18.

North Florida recorded 13 shots in the match, compared to seven by Georgia Southern. The Ospreys registered seven shots on goal, while the Eagles notched three on frame. GSU goalies combined for six saves with the Eagles also adding a team save. UNF's keepers Brad Sienkiewicz and Kyle Nasta combined for the shutout. Sienkiewicz notched two saves, while Nasta posted one.

Demetri Zervos led the Ospreys with three shots on the day, while Luis Daniel Camejo, Max McDaniel and Alex Morrell each posted a pair of shots each. McDaniel led the team with two shots on goal. Camejo, Morrell, Camilo Garcia, Jean Rivaroli and Simen Solstad each recorded shots on goal in the match.

North Florida led Georgia Southern 7-to-2 on corner kicks. Both teams were called for offsides twice in the match. The Ospreys had the offensive advantage at halftime, doubling the number of shots by the Eagles – 6-to-3. UNF had three shots on goal with GSU taking two shots on goal in the first stanza.

In the first half, the Ospreys were charged with a foul inside the box, giving the Eagles a penalty kick. On the PK attempt, Sienkiewicz kept the match scoreless as the keeper made a sliding stop.

In the second half, North Florida had an opportunity to take control of the match. McDaniel took back-to-back shots on goal that were thwarted by excellent defense by the Georgia Southern goalie. On the second rebound, Camejo fired a shot into the goal that was knocked away by an Eagles' defender.
