
Women's Golf 14th After Season Best Round

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Bolstered by their best round of the season, the North Florida women's golf team sits in 14th place after day one play in the Web.com Intercollegiate at Marsh Landing Country Club.
Over 36 holes of action on Monday, the Ospreys followed an opening round 304 with a 298, marking the squad's sub-300 score of the year. Emelie Alpe led the way for UNF's all freshmen lineup finishing the day tied for 24th with rounds of 73-74=147. Alpe's opening 18-hole total marked her best round of play this spring.
Tess Huber is tied for 28th, just one stroke behind Alpe, after rounds of 75-73=148. The rest of UNF's lineup in the event included Kelly Aylwin tied for 60th (75-78=153), Mary Rodgers tied for 66th (81-73=154) and Belinda George in 101st (82-86=168).
The Web.com Intercollegiate features a field of 20 teams including six squads ranked in the nation's Top 50. No. 14 Purdue leads the team competition after two rounds with a score of 574 followed by No. 28 Iowa State at 579. No. 17 Texas Tech is third at 580 with Sam Houston State (585) and Kennesaw State (588) rounding out the top five teams.
Texas Tech's Gabriella Dominguez tops the individual medalist competition with a 36-hole total of 139 (-5).
Tournament action concludes with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start final round Tuesday. The Ospreys will be teammed with Michigan, James Madison and Stetson. Admission is free and open to the public at Marsh Landing.
