
Women's Golf Finishes 9th at Pinehurst Challenge

PINEHURST, N.C. -- The North Florida women's golf team fired a final round 307 vaulting up three spots Tuesday to finish ninth at the Pinehurst Challenge played at Pinehurst No. 6.
The Ospreys finished with a three-round total of 931, marking the team's best total of the spring and second lowest total in a full tournament field event.
UNF's all freshmen lineup was led in the final round by Tess Huber's two-over-par 74. Emelie Alpe was the Osprey's top finisher earning a tie for 23rd at 230 including a 76 on Tuesday. Huber finished the event tied for 27th at 232.
Kelly Aylwin tied for 39th at 234 while Mary Rodgers tied for 61st (240) and Belinda George tied for 75th (243) to round out the Osprey lineup for the event.
Richmond claimed the team championship with a 54-hole total of 899, four strokes in front of tournament host College of Charleston (903). Penn State finished third at 904 followed by Samford (916), Morehead State (917), Old Dominion (919), James Madison (920), Rollins (922), North Florida, William & Mary (933), Jacksonville (936), Charleston Southern (938), St. John's (938), Delaware (952), Illinois State (956), Tennessee Tech (960), Wichita State (962), Dartmouth (970) and Boston University (989).
Caroline Lovette of Richmond earned the individual medalist crown with a final tally of 219.
North Florida makes a quick return to action as the Ospreys will play in the Marsh Landing Invitational in Jacksonville on Apr. 8-9.
