STATESBORO, Ga. – The No. 15 North Florida men's golf team posted an opening round 294 on Friday at the Schenkel Invitational ending the day tied for seventh.
The Ospreys were led by sophomore MJ Maguire, who carded a two-under-par 70 and sits in a tie for sixth in medalist play. It marked Maguire's eighth round under par this season.
Senior Sean Dale joins Maguire in the Top 20 ranking tied for 13th after a one-under 71 on Friday. The remainder of the Osprey lineup includes senior Kevin Phelan 75 (T-45th), freshman Joe Stepnes 78 (T-73rd) and sophomore Joey Petronio 81 (T-81st).
No. 4 Texas carded an opening round 280 and holds a two shot lead on the 15-team field. No. 2 Alabama is second at 282 followed by No. 11 Florida (285), No. 46 UCF (291), UAB (292), No. 38 Vanderbilt (292), UNF, Kentucky (294), No. 33 North Texas (296), Maryland (296), College of Charleston (297), Georgia Southern (297), Notre Dame (297), Virginia (301) and Ole Miss (301).
