
#WSOC Set for River City Rumble

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's soccer team will take on crosstown rival Jacksonville (6-5-0) at Southern Oak Stadium on Friday, Oct. 4 at 7:00 p.m. as the two teams battle for the first SunTrust River City Rumble point of the 2013-2014 year.

Last weekend, the Ospreys (3-7-2) opened up conference play on the road falling to Stetson 1-0 on Friday evening and dropping a 3-0 decision against Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday afternoon.

In the conference opener against Stetson, the Ospreys controlled the time of possession throughout the match. Despite having multiple opportunities near the goal, the Ospreys were unable to capitalize. UNF finished the match with a 15-9 advantage on shots and a 6-1 advantage on corner kicks.

The Ospreys held the Eagles scoreless in the first half before surrendering three goals in the second half. North Florida finished the match with six shots, including five on goal and five corner kicks. Six different players recorded a shot for the Ospreys.

Jacksonville finished its conference opening weekend going 1-1. On Friday evening, JU fell to FGCU 2-1 after a last second goal in the 89th minute. The Dolphins grabbed a 2-1 victory over Stetson on Sunday afternoon. JU's leading scorer Kaitlyn Bassett scored both goals for the Dolphins, giving her eight goals on the year, including four match-winners to lead the Atlantic Sun.

The Dolphins currently own a 6-3-1 advantage over the Ospreys in the all-time series between the schools. In the last meeting, both teams battled to a 1-1 draw at Hodges Stadium. Carolina Lencina scored in the 60th minute on a pass from Thea Linkfield to give the Ospreys a 1-0 lead, but Jessica Cataldo-Ramirez knotted the score at 1-1 in the 81st minute.
