JACKSONVILLE -- The North Florida women's golf team posted a program best second-place finish in the Courtyard Classic after rain washed out final round play Tuesday at Marsh Landing Country Club.
The Ospreys carded rounds of 295-307 (602) on Monday to sit 12 shots behind tournament champion College of Charleston (590). UNF's opening round 295 marked a program single round record, besting the previous mark of 298 posted last season at the Web.com Intercollegiate.
Sophomore Tess Huber led the way for North Florida earning a career best third-place showing in the medalist competition. Huber fired a personal best one-under 71 in Monday's first round followed by a second round 74 to finish with a 36 hole total of one-over 145. Her opening round under-par performance matched the UNF single round record and marked just the second round under-par in program history.
Huber was joined in the final Top 25 by teammates Lauren Coe (T14th/150) and Belinda George (25th/153). Others competing in the event for UNF included Emelie Alpe (T37th/156), Kelly Aylwin (T39th/157) and Nathalie Nygren (T49th/160), who competed as an individual.
North Florida finished its fall tournament slate recording back-to-back Top 10 team finishes. The Ospreys will now take a break from competition before returning to action Feb. 17-18 at the Amelia Island (Fla.) Collegiate.
