#WGolf Finishes Day One Play at Amelia Island in 10th

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- The North Florida women's golf team returned to competition Monday posting rounds of 303-311 in opening day play at the JU Amelia Island Collegiate.
The Ospreys are in 10th place with a 36-hole total of 614. Sophomore Emelie Alpe got UNF off to a good start carding a one-over 73 in her morning round followed by a 79 in the afternoon to lead the way for the team at 152 (T-34th).
Freshman Lauren Coe ended the first day tied for 37th at 153 (75-78) while sophomores Kelly Aylwin and Belinda George are both tied for 44th at 155 following rounds of 78-77 and 77-78, respectively.
Freshman Nathalie Nygren rounded out the Osprey lineup with scores of 81-78 (159) to sit in a tie for 54th. Playing as an individual, sophomore Mary Rodgers is tied for 37th at 153 after posting rounds of 76-77.
FIU leads the 14-team field at Amelia National with a two-round total of 559. Kennesaw State is second at 572 followed by Jacksonville (589), Daytona State College (589), Winthrop (594), James Madison (595), Jacksonville State (599), Stetson (605), Xavier (609), UNF, Cincinnati (615), Wofford (616), Illinois State (638) and FAU (650).
Tournament action at the Amelia Island Collegiate concludes with a final round of 18 holes on Tuesday beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. North Florida will be paired with Cincinnati and Wofford during the final round.
