Complete Game Notes
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The University of North Florida will head to North Carolina this weekend for matches on Friday and Sunday against Charlotte and Davidson, respectively.
This past weekend, the Ospreys dropped a pair of tough losses at home, first falling to Georgia Southern by a score of 1-0 on Friday evening, then dropping a 5-3 decision to Navy on Sunday.
Charlotte (Fri. Sept. 7, 7 p.m.) enters Friday's game with a 3-2 record, fresh off a weather-delayed 1-0 win at East Carolina on Monday evening. Though the defense has been mostly stout, the 49ers have occasionally struggled on the offensive end, netting only four goals in 2012. Sophomore Sara Trexler has led the way for Charlotte thus far, tallying a pair of goals on eight shots. Senior Carrie Dail and sophomore Amanda Jones have also scored for the 49ers.
UNF faced the 49ers for the first time in its season opener last year, which played out to a scoreless draw. Then-sophomore goalkeeper Megan Dorsey recorded seven saves en route to her first career shutout.
The Wildcats enter the weekend with a record of 1-3, having lost to East Carolina and UNC Wilmington last weekend. They will also face Clemson, who defeated UNF 2-0 earlier this year, at home on Friday evening. Davidson has conceded three goals in each of their last two games prior to the weekend, but has scored four goals on the season. Junior midfielder Tori Krause has two of those goals, while sophomore forwards Stephanie Piperno and Julia Singley have each notched one of their own. Sophomore midfielder Becca Fisher, the reigning Souther Conference Freshman of the Year, has recorded six shots for the Wildcats.
The Ospreys have never faced Davidson in women's soccer.
