JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team hits the road for a midweek nonconference game against in-state foe Florida A&M on Tuesday, March 6, at Moore-Kittles Field in Tallahassee.

The Ospreys (7-4) enter the game after winning three games of a four-game series with Georgia Southern. North Florida used a walk-off home run by Ryan Roberson to claim an 8-5 victory in the series opener. UNF used a five-run inning, highlighted by home runs by Roberson and Alex Bacon, to claim game two. After rain in Statesboro forced a doubleheader on Sunday, the Ospreys jumped out to a lead and managed to hang on for a 7-5 win to claim the series. In the series finale, Georgia Southern used a pair of three-run innings to earn a 9-5 victory and prevent the North Florida sweep.

For his efforts on the week, sophomore pitcher Tyler Moore was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week. The ASun Pitcher of the Week honor is the first of Moore's career and the 10th for the Ospreys since joining the conference in 2006. Moore becomes the first North Florida pitcher to earn the accolade since Casey Medlen (2010-11) earned the honor on Feb. 28, 2011.

Moore made three appearances on the weekend, earning a win and two saves. The sophomore worked 4.1 innings in three relief appearances with a 0.00 ERA. Moore allowed just two hits, while striking out five. Opponents batted .143 against him over the course of the weekend.

North Florida is 7-0 all-time against Florida A&M with two victories against the Rattlers in Tallahassee. In the first ever meeting between the two teams, the Ospreys earned an 18-7 win over the Rattlers on April 11, 2006. The next day, UNF edged out FAMU, 7-6. The next five games in the series were played at Harmon Stadium in Jacksonville.

The last time the Ospreys and Rattlers met on the baseball diamond was Feb. 21, 2010, with UNF earning a 6-5 win. Tied 5-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Robbie Collier (2008-11) scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by Michael Smith (2008-11) to give North Florida the one-run advantage they would not relinquish.

Scouting the Opposition:
Florida A&M enters the midweek game with a 1-10 overall record. The Rattlers dropped a pair of games to Jacksonville over the weekend. In game one, JU scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally past FAMU, 11-10. Florida A&M jumped out to a 6-0 lead over Jacksonville in game two, before the Dolphins used a pair of five-run innings to claim the 13-8 victory.

In October of 2011, Willie Brown was introduced as Florida A&M's new head baseball coach. Brown played for FAMU from 1990-92.
