No. 56 Men's Tennis Tips No. 74 Stetson, 4-3

DeLAND, Fla.Daniel Sotomarino's three-set No. 2 singles win propelled the No. 56 University of North Florida men's tennis to a 4-3 win at No. 74 Stetson on Saturday.
 
UNF began the day by sweeping all three doubles matches in order to go up 1-0. Norbert Nemcsek and Sotomarino held off Njal Stene and Hans Adrian Riseng 9-8 at No. 1 doubles. Moritz Buerchner and Graham Edgar downed Maksim Levanovich and Chester Espie 8-3 in the No. 2 spot. Leonardo Nahar and Pedro Davisson edged out Didrik Berg and Nathan Debut 9-8 at No. 3 doubles to complete the sweep.
 
The Ospreys got the first two points of the singles competition to go up 3-0. Nahar took a 6-1, 6-2 No. 5 singles win against Debut and Davisson added a 6-3, 6-3 win over Riseng at No. 4. However, Stetson rattled off the match's next three points in order to tie the match. Espie defeated Edgar 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6 and Berg added a 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 win against Nemcsek at No. 3 singles. The Hatters tied the team score at 3-3 when Levanovich defeated Buerchner 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.
 
However, Sotomarino lifted UNF to the win by taking a three-set No. 2 singles win against Stene. Sotomarino took the first set 6-3, but Stene won the second 6-2 to force a deciding third set. Sotomarino held of Stene 6-3 to capture the No. 2 single victory and give UNF the match-winning point.
 
UNF returns to action next weekend when the Ospreys return to the UNF Tennis Complex for their final two home matches of the season. The weekend begins on Friday when UNF hosts Belmont at 2 p.m.
