Track and Field Takes Two Golds at USF Invite

Tampa, Fla. -- The University of North Florida track and field teams grabbed two gold medals to go with a number of solid finishes at the USF Bulls Invitational in Tampa, Fla. on Friday evening.
For the women, sophomore Brianna Frazier grabbed the top spot in the 200m with a time of 23.87 to lead the way. Sophomore Sharniece Supal took ninth in the same event with a time of 25.27.
Senior Erin Nixon made her 2012 outdoor debut by earning two top-six finishes, taking fifth in the 1500m (4:35.87) and sixth in the 800m (2:16.95). Freshman Elle Baker grabbed a tenth-place finish in the 800m with a time of 2:17.36, a new personal best.
Four Ospreys set new personal records in the 1500m, as senior Brooke Baumann (4:41.40), freshman Alyssa Brandt (4:47.78), sophomore Allison Spiegel (4:58.32) and freshman Kaili Corcoran (5:08.94) all set new lows in the event.
Junior Jasmine Jackson (14.22) and sophomore Christina Johnson (14.26) took fourth and fifth in the 100m hurdles, while senior Christina King set a new personal and UNF record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.86m to finish third.
On the men's side, senior Cameron Dickerson clocked a 1:52.50 to take first in the 800m, leading junior James Post (1:53.38) and sophomore Sean White (1:56.50) in third and 10th, respectively. Sophomore Constantine Fotopoulos set a new personal-best in the 1500m with a 4:05.82 en route to finishing 23rd.
Junior Chase Nelson (11th, 9:07.37) and sophomore Daniel Schmidt (19th, 9:24.60) also set new career records in the 3000m.

The UNF track and field teams will next be in action on March 21-24 when they travel to Tallahasee, Fla. to compete in the FSU Relays.
