
Conference Play Begins with USC Upstate, ETSU for Men's Tennis

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Riding a four-match winning streak, the University of North Florida men's tennis team returns to the UNF Tennis Complex to open Atlantic Sun Conference play against USC Upstate and ETSU. Both matches are slated for 10 a.m., on Friday and Saturday.
UNF is coming off back-to-back 4-3 upsets of nationally-ranked opponents. Both of UNF's wins against then-No. 42 South Alabama and No. 33 UNC Wilmington were decided win Leonardo Nahar emerged victorious in three-sets in each of his singles matches. As a result, Nahar was tabbed the Atlantic Sun's Player of the Week. The Ospreys are 7-1 on their home courts and are in the midst of a seven-match homestand.
USC Upstate brings a three-match winning streak into Friday. The Spartans are 3-3 on the year when it comes to road matches and their winning streak includes a 5-2 win at Nicholls State. The Spartans hold winning marks in five of the six singles spots and two of the three doubles positions. Ramiro Blanco is undefeated in singles play this season with a 9-0 record, including 6-0 at No. 1 and 3-0 at No. 2.
ETSU has won five-straight Atlantic Sun Championships and begin conference play at Jacksonville on Friday. However, this weekend's matches are the first for the Bucs in nearly three weeks. ETSU was last in action on Feb. 26 when it defeated Tennessee Tech 6-1. ETSU has played a challenging schedule, facing five nationally-ranked teams. Jeremy Bonnevalle brings a three-matching winning streak into the weekend – all at No. 4 singles.
