
North Florida Opens Tournament Play vs ETSU

MACON, Ga. – No.5-seeded North Florida opens play in the 2012 General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Tournament against No.-4 seed ETSU at Mercer's University Center Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
The Ospreys (16-15, 10-8 A-Sun) come into the postseason on a three-game win streak after earning a season sweep of rival Jacksonville in the regular season finale. ETSU (16-13, 10-8) also won its final three games heading into the postseason.
Thursday's game marks the 15th all-time meeting between UNF and ETSU on the hardwood. The Bucs hold a 13-1 advantage in the series after winning both meetings between the pair in the regular season. ETSU rallied for a one-point victory in Jacksonville before topping the Ospreys by 15 in Johnson City. The meeting also marks the second straight year that UNF-ETSU have met in the A-Sun Tournament with North Florida claiming their only win in the series with a 59-55 victory in last year's semifinals.
Parker Smith, a second-team All-Atlantic Sun honoree, leads UNF in scoring averaging 14.5 points per game. Smith was the league's top scorer in conference play (17 ppg) and also led the A-Sun in three-pointers this season. Travis Wallace (11.1 ppg) and Jerron Granberry (10.8 ppg) also both average double digits for the Ospreys. Wallace is also the team's leading rebounder at 5.3 boards a contest.
Thursday's game will be televised online at ASun.tv and ESPN3.
