Game Notes
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The North Florida basketball team opens its final home stand of the year Saturday against Atlantic Sun Conference rival Kennesaw State at 7 p.m. in UNF Arena.
UNF fans are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals with them to the game as the basketball team will be collecting the donated animals and sharing them with children at the Sulzbacher Center, The Way Home, during visits in the off-season. Collection boxes will be located at the entrance to UNF Arena.
The Ospreys (13-15, 7-8 ASun) look to extend their current home win streak against the Owls (3-24, 0-14). UNF topped Stetson and FGCU in their last home stand but dropped a pair of road tilts last weekend at ETSU and USC Upstate. With a win on Saturday, the Ospreys could secure a spot in the upcoming Atlantic Sun Conference tournament.
Saturday's game marks the 30th all-time meeting between UNF and Kennesaw State on the hardwood. The Owls own a slight 16-13 lead in the all-time series, but the Ospreys have taken the last five meetings including the last three at UNF Arena. North Florida earned a tough 76-68 win over KSU a month ago in Kennesaw behind a career-high 27 points from Travis Wallace.
Parker Smith, who has reached double digits in five straight games, tops the team in scoring at 13.3 points per game. The junior sharpshooter is joined in double figures by Travis Wallace (10.8 ppg) and Jerron Granberry (10.7 ppg). Granberry enters the contest just 25 points shy of becoming just sixth UNF 1,000-point scorer. Wallace leads the squad in rebounding at 5.1 per game.
