FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The North Florida basketball team begins play in the Continental Tires Las Vegas Classic against Colorado State on the road Monday at 7 p.m. (MT).
The game at CSU marks a stretch of four games in nine days for the Ospreys (3-6), who will look to get back on the winning track after dropping their last two contests. Colorado State (6-2) has also lost its last two games but is a perfect 4-0 at home in Moby Arena this season.
Monday's tilt marks the first meeting between UNF and CSU on the hardwood. The Ospreys are 1-2 all-time against teams from the Mountain West Conference. UNF head coach Matthew Driscoll and the Ospreys are 1-0 versus CSU head coach Larry Eustachy, having earned a 53-46 victory in 2009-10 over Eustachy's Southern Miss squad.
UNF senior Parker Smith leads the team in scoring at 16.3 points per game and is currently ranked fifth in the nation making 3.9 three-pointers a game. Junior Travis Wallace has reached double digits in six straight games ranking second on team in scoring (11.4 ppg) and tops in rebounding (4.3 rpg).
As a team, North Florida ranks third in the country for three-point field goal percentage defense, holding opponent's to just 23.0 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
Colorado State has three players averaging double figures led by Colton Iverson, who boasts a double-double average thus far with 15.8 ppg and 11.1 rpg. As a team, the Rams lead the country in rebounding margin, pulling down 16.1 more boards per game than their opponents.
