MACON, Ga. – The No. 42 ranked North Florida golf team struggled Saturday slipping to fourth place at the Brickyard Collegiate Championship following a second round 299 at The Brickyard at Riverside course.
The Ospreys ended the day with a 36-hole tally of 582. Freshman Joe Stepnes carded an even-par 72 to pace the UNF lineup in the second round.
Sophomore Joey Petronio fired a one-over-par 73 on Saturday to remain in the Top 10 of the individual rankings, listed tied for sixth with a two-day total of 142. Stepnes is currently tied for 20th at 145.
Redshirt freshman Taylor Hancock is tied for 32nd at 147 following a 77 in round two while sophomore MJ Maguire (77) and freshman Austin Padova (81) round out the UNF lineup in a tie for 56th at 152. Senior Joey Marino, who is playing as an individual in the event, shot an 86 for a tournament total of 164 (82nd).
No. 4 ranked Georgia maintained their spot at the top of the team leaderboard following a round of even par 288. The Bulldogs own a total of 568, nine shots in front of second-place No. 35 Virginia Tech at 577. No. 15 Georgia Tech is third at 579 followed by UNF, Princeton (583), No. 46 Colorado State (585), No. 40 Oklahoma (585), Mercer (586), Kansas (587), Augusta State (589), Chattanooga (590), Georgia State (590), College of Charleston (597), South Florida (600) and Air Force (611).
Princeton's Quinlan Prchal posted his second straight 69 (-3) to grab the individual medalist lead by one at 138.
North Florida concludes play at the Brickyard Collegiate with final round action Sunday beginning at 9:20 a.m. The Ospreys will be paired with Princeton and Colorado State.
