Women's Golf Finishes 9th at Lady Paladin

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The North Florida women's golf team saved their best for last carding a final round 311 en route to finishing ninth in the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman.
The Ospreys improved by eight shots in the closing round and finished with a 54-hole total of 954. The Top 10 finish was the team's third straight of their inaugural season.
Freshman Julia McQuilken led the way for UNF's all-freshman lineup finishing tied for 32nd at 237 highlighted by her final round 75 (+3). Fellow rookie Kelly Aylwin finished one shot behind at 238 in a tie for 36th.
UNF's season stroke average leader Tess Huber finished tied for 40th at 239 while Mary Rodgers tied for 44th at 240 following her best round of the weekend (77). Victoria Pitenis rounded out the Osprey lineup earning a tie for 67th at 255.
Chattanooga claimed the team championship with a three-day score of 896 with tournament host Furman finishing second at 901. Nova Southeastern, ranked No. 1 in NCAA Div. II, was third at 908 followed by Samford (911), Mercer (920), Appalachian State (939), Jacksonville (949), William & Mary (951), North Florida, Columbia (957), Newberry College (962), Longwood (963) and Savannah College of Art & Design (967). Rutgers withdrew from competition at the event while attempting to get home before the arrival of Hurricane Sandy.
The Lady Mocs' Marion Duvernay captured the individual medalist crown with a final score of 219.
North Florida will complete play in its debut fall season Nov. 5-6 at the Stetson Invitational.
