
Women's Golf 6th After Day 1 at Hatter Classic

DeLAND, Fla. – The North Florida women's golf team finished the opening day of play at the Hatter Classic in sixth place after posting rounds Monday of 323-316 at Victoria Hills Golf Course.
The Ospreys own a 36-hole total of 639 and are just two shots out of the Top Five. A short-handed UNF squad played with just four players on day one.
Freshman Tess Huber, the team's stroke average leader, paced the Ospreys performance on day one carding rounds of 76-79 (155) to end the day in ninth place. Fellow freshman Kelly Aylwin is tied for 10th at 156 highlighted by a team-best 74 in round two.
Freshman Victoria Pitenis is tied for 20th at 161 (77-84) while freshman Belinda George rounded out the UNF lineup in a tie for 34th at 167 (88-79).
Daytona State leads the team competition heading into the final round after shooting a two-round score of 615. Tournament host Stetson is second at 618 followed by McNeese State (622), USC Upstate (629), Bethune-Cookman (637), North Florida, Florida Atlantic (640), Lipscomb (655) and Webber International (715).
The Hatters' Sammi Smith leads the individual medalist competition by four strokes after finishing day one at even-par 144.
North Florida concludes play at the Hatter Classic and in their inaugural fall season Tuesday with final round action beginning with a shotgun start at 7:15 a.m.
