WINDERMERE, Fla. – The No. 41-ranked North Florida men's golf team carded an opening round 300 Sunday to end the day tied for 10th at the highly competitive Isleworth Collegiate Invitational.
The Ospreys concluded round one even with No. 40 Texas Tech and No. 13 Arkansas. The field at Isleworth features 13 of the 15 teams ranked among the nation's Top 50.
Sophomore MJ Maguire continued his strong fall campaign firing an even par 72 to pace the UNF lineup. Maguire is currently tied for 7th and is joined in the Top 25 listing by senior teammate Kevin Phelan, who is tied for 22nd after a first round 74 (+2).
Sophomore Joey Petronio and redshirt freshman Taylor Hancock each posted rounds of 77 to sit tied for 50th while freshman Joe Stepnes finished with an 82 (T-72nd) to round out the list of Osprey golfers.
Top-ranked California was the lone team under par on Sunday finishing with a four-under 284 to grab the lead in the team competition. Defending national champion and No. 2 ranked Texas is in second at 288 followed by No. 31 Illinois (291), No. 7 New Mexico (293), No. 11 LSU (294), No. 10 Alabama/No. 42 UCF (296), No. 6 Florida/TCU (297), UNF/Texas Tech/Arkansas, No. 14 Vanderbilt (303), No. 77 Augusta State (305) and No. 22 Indiana (306).

North Florida continues play at the Isleworth in second round action on Monday. The Ospreys will be paired with the Razorbacks and Red Raiders starting at 8:25 a.m. off of Hole 10. Fans can follow all the action via live scoring at www.golfstat.com
