DELAND, Fla. -- The University of North Florida women's basketball team concludes their first conference road trip on Monday at Stetson.
UNF will attempt to rebound from Saturday's loss at Florida Gulf Coast and pick up its first road win of the season. Additionally, the Ospreys will attempt to give Stetson its first conference loss. The Hatters are one of two teams undefeated in Atlantic Sun play and are currently second in the conference standings.
The Ospreys, who are 2-2 in the Atlantic Sun, come off a 68-34 setback to conference leader Florida Gulf Coast. UNF held the Eagles to under 70 points, becoming the fifth team to do so this season. Fabiola Josil paced the Ospreys with eight points and six assists and Jasmine Hicks grabbed four rebounds.
Fresh off a school-record eighth-consecutive win, Stetson remains undefeated at home this season with a 7-0 mark at the Edmunds Center. The Hatters prevailed in double overtime on Saturday, defeating Jacksonville 93-86. Sasha Sims' 25 points led a trio of Hatters with 22-or-more points. Players reaching the 20-point mark is common for the Hatters; 10 of Stetson's 17 games have included the team's points leader with at least 20 points. Victoria McGown, who was the Atlantic Sun's Preseason Player of the Year, leads the conference and Stetson with 17.1 points per game. She barely missed out on her third triple-double of the season with 24 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists against Jacksonville. McGowan is currently the only player in the nation with multiple triple-doubles.
The series between UNF and Stetson is tied at 6-6. Each team is 5-1 on its home floor. However, Stetson swept last year's series.
Tip-off for Monday's game is set for 2 p.m.
