The North Florida Ospreys swept through their Canadian Tour earning a hard-fought 85-81 victory over Brock University in their finale Tuesday night at Bob Davis Gym.
With the win, UNF finished with a perfect 3-0 mark "North of the Border" and evened the all-time series against the Badgers at 1-1.
Parker Smith paced the Osprey offense finishing with 29 points including a 6-of-7 performance from the three-point line. Charles McRoy chipped in 10 points while Travis Wallace finished with 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Brock kept things interesting throughout as seven different players combined for 13 treys. Didi Mukendi led the Badgers with 22 points.
The Ospreys and Badgers played under FIBA (International Basketball) rules. Some differences from NCAA Basketball include: Four 10-minute quarters, 24-second shot clock, Wider trapezoid lane, Only coach called timeouts, Live play of basketballs on the rim and the NBA mid-court ball advancement after made basket timeout in the final two minutes of the game.
The game did include one familiar NCAA component -- media timeouts at the 5-minute mark of each quarter.
UNF returns home Wednesday, catching a very early morning flight (6 am) out of Buffalo, N.Y. Upon their arrival in Jacksonville, the players get a 10-day break before returning for the start of the fall semester on Aug. 20.
