JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team travels to Tampa and New Orleans to conclude the season with a single game on Tuesday night against USF and then a three-game series against the University of New Orleans on Thursday through Saturday.
The Ospreys begin the week with a single game against in-state rival USF in Tampa on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. at USF Baseball Stadium. UNF continues the road trip with three games at New Orleans on Thursday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m. (ET), Friday, May 20 at 3:00 p.m. (ET) and Saturday, May 21 at 2:00 p.m. (ET).
North Florida enters the week with a 25-25 overall record, while USF is 22-28. UNO enters the week with a 3-47 mark, and will play LSU on Tuesday night.
The series between North Florida and USF is knotted at 4-4. Despite being 3-0 against the Bulls in Jacksonville, the Ospreys are just 1-4 against USF in Tampa. The games between the Ospreys and Privateers will mark the first meeting between the two teams.
The series with USF began in 2006 with a 6-5 victory by North Florida on Feb. 21 in Tampa. The victory for the Ospreys was the first in the series and the last time UNF recorded a win on the road in the series.
Last season, North Florida and USF split a two-game series with each team winning on their respective field. The Bulls claimed a 10-7 victory over the Ospreys in Tampa, before UNF claimed a 15-9 decision in Jacksonville.
In addition, seniors Robbie Collier, Kyle Dahl, Andrew Hannon, George Lott, Casey Medlen, Sam Perry and Michael Smith will be playing their final four games in an Osprey uniform.
Scouting the Opposition:
USF enters the game against the Ospreys on a seven-game skid. The Bulls dropped a game against UCF before being swept on the road in back-to-back Big East Conference series to Connecticut and Notre Dame.
New Orleans comes into the week with a 3-47 record. The Privateers have played just eight games at home with 42 games on the road or at a neutral site. UNO is 1-7 at home this season.
