
Women’s Tennis to Host UCF in Home Finale

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's tennis team will host C-USA's UCF on Thursday, April 7 at the UNF Tennis Complex, beginning at 2 p.m.
UNF (12-4) is coming off a 6-1 win over Florida Gulf Coast the last time out. The Ospreys won two of the three doubles matches to claim the point and won five of the six singles matches. Aline Berkenbrock, Victoria Krook, Melanie Aguirre, Simona Weymar and Melinda Doak all secured singles wins for UNF.
Weymar has tallied a 14-2 record this season, playing primarily in the No. 5 where she is 11-1 mark. Danielle Day is 12-4 on the season and has played in the No. 1 and No. 2 while Victoria Krook is 11-3, playing primarily in the No. 3. Seeing time mostly in the No. 4, Aguirre is 10-6 while Berkenbrock is 6-5 and Doak has notched a 7-7 mark this season.
Aguirre and Day have teamed up in the No. 2 doubles all season and have tallied a 14-2 record.
UCF (8-7) defeated Memphis, 4-3 in the Knights' last match. The Knights dropped the doubles point to the Tigers, but picked up wins in the No. 1, 3, 5 and 6 matches as Jenny Frisell, Jenna Doerfler, Josephine Haraldson and Allison Hodges secured wins.
The Ospreys notched a 5-2 win over the Knights last season. Berkenbrock, Day, Krook and Aguirre all secured singles matches against UCF.
Wednesday's match marks the final home match of the season for the Ospreys. UNF will take to the road to close out the season against crosstown Atlantic Sun rival, Jacksonville (April 9) and the Big East's USF (April 10).
