Baseball to Meet Georgia Southern in Statesboro

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team heads to Statesboro, Ga. for nonconference a midweek game against Georgia Southern on Wednesday, April 13 at 6:00 p.m. at J.I. Clements Stadium.

The baseball game can be heard live on Eagle 102.9 FM and is also available online at GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com/Eaglevision with broadcasts beginning 30 minutes prior to first pitch. Ryan Chambers of the Georgia Southern Radio Network will call all the action.

North Florida enters the midweek with a 19-14 overall record and an 10-8 mark in the Atlantic Sun Conference, while Georgia Southern is 19-13 with a 9-2 mark in the Southern Conference.
The Ospreys and Eagles have met nine times in their history with GSU holding a 6-3 advantage. UNF is 2-2 in Jacksonville, but is just 1-4 against the Eagles in Statesboro. Last season, UNF dropped a 3-2 decision to GSU in Statesboro.
Earlier this season against Georgia Southern, North Florida collected 14 hits, including a double, a triple and two home runs as they cruised to an 11-3 victory. Seven players in the Osprey lineup recorded a hit in the game with five players boasting multiple hits in the game.
Freshman Alex Hernandez and senior Kyle Dahl led all Ospreys with three hits apiece. Hernandez finished the game 3-for-3 with three singles and a pair of walks. Dahl finished the game 3-for-5 with a single, double and a home run. Dahl drove in a game-high three batters, while scoring a team-high three runs. True freshman Alex Bacon belted his first collegiate home run, while fellow freshman Tyler Marincov hit the first triple of the season for North Florida.
UNF enters the week with a 9-6 (.600) record in road games. The Ospreys have won four of their last five road games.
Scouting the Opposition:
Georgia Southern will look to pick up win number 20 in a pair of midweek games against Jacksonville and North Florida. The Eagles will play host to the Dolphins on Tuesday and North Florida on Wednesday. First pitch for both games is set for 6 p.m. at J.I. Clements Stadium.
Georgia Southern played UNF in its first road game of the year back on Mar. 2. The Ospreys banged out 14 hits and forced three Eagle errors to score 11 runs. Two bright spots for GSU were Eric Phillips' perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate and Tom Richardson's two RBI.
