JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Junior Alyson Bailey turned in a career night, hitting 4-of-4 to lead the North Florida softball team (11-9) over Delaware State (6-8) with a score of 10-6 in the nightcap of the UNF Osprey Invitational on Saturday night at the UNF Softball Complex.
Bailey's four hits was a career high for the Boynton Beach, Fla. native, as well as marked the first time since March 28, 2009 that an Osprey player had four hits in a game. Bailey legged out two doubles and a single to go along with three RBI and a walk.
North Florida scored five runs in the top of the fourth inning to take 9-3 lead, putting itself essentially out of reach for the Hornets to make it close.
Freshman pitcher Cortney Radke (9-7) picked up her fifth win in a row in the circle, working 4.1 innings in relief. Radke allowed three runs – all unearned – on eight hits, while striking out six and walking just one.
Delaware State hurler Casey Beighley (2-4) picked up the loss after pitching 3.1 innings and allowing nine runs – five earned.
North Florida continues play in the tournament on Sunday with back-to-back games. The Ospreys first face No. 35 Kansas at 11:30 a.m. and follow up with a game against Alabama State at 2 p.m. to round out the tournament.
