Baseball Continues ASun Play with ETSU

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida baseball team is set to play East Tennessee State in a three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series at Dusty Rhodes Field at Harmon Stadium. The series begins on Friday, March 11, at 7 p.m. and continues on Saturday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m. The three-game tilt will conclude on Sunday, March 13, at 1:00 p.m.
North Florida enters the weekend series with a 7-5 overall record, while East Tennessee State is 7-2 overall. The Ospreys are 1-2 in the Atlantic Sun Conference, while the Buccaneers are 1-0 in the league.
In their last game, the Ospreys pounded out 14 hits and relied on solid pitching to shutout Wagner, 12-0, on Tuesday night at Dusty Rhodes Field at Harmon Stadium.
North Florida and East Tennessee State have met 16 times in program history with the all-time series even at 8-8. Last season, the Ospreys earned a series victory over the Buccaneers, winning the first two games of the conference matchup (W, 13-5; W, 8-4). ETSU edged out UNF in the final game by one run (L, 19-20). The two teams met in the first round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament with the Buccaneers prevailing 7-5.
The Ospreys are 3-3 against the Buccaneers in Jacksonville. In 2009, the two teams met at Harmon Stadium with North Florida claiming the series victory two games to one.
Last season, North Florida set the school single game record with 10 doubles against East Tennessee State in a 13-5 victory. Former Osprey David Eldredge (2009-10) set the individual school record with four doubles in the game.
The Ospreys enter the weekend with a 2-1 record over teams with a pirate as a mascot. North Florida opened the season with 2-1 series victory over the Charleston Southern Buccaneers. In addition to CSU and ETSU, the Ospreys will play another set of pirates – the New Orleans Privateers – to conclude the regular season.
