
Women’s Tennis Heads to Charleston

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's tennis team will head to Charleston, S.C. for a pair of matches, beginning with Charleston Southern on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. before making the trip across town to face College of Charleston on Friday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m.
UNF (2-1) is coming off a 4-3 win over UAB. The Ospreys picked up the doubles point over the Blazers to start out strong. Junior Danielle Day secured a win at No. 1 for UNF while the Ospreys also picked up points from a pair of freshmen, Simona Weymar at No. 4 and Melinda Doak at No. 6.
The Buccaneers (1-3) picked up a 4-3 over Troy the last time out, but have faced No. 46 N.C. State and No. 10 Clemson early in the season. CSU won the 2010 Big South Regular Season title last year. Two-time Big South Player of the Year Olga Makhova along with All-Conference honoree Angie Torres will be on the court for the Bucs this season.
CofC (0-3) faced No. 42 N.C. State in the team's last match, falling 7-0. The Cougars are the back-to-back Southern Conference champions and return All-Conference honorees, Emma Hayman, Kinsey Casey, Caroline Newman and Irene Viana.
The Ospreys will return home to open Atlantic Sun Conference action on Friday, March 4 against East Tennessee State.
