JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- For the second-straight game, three University of North Florida women's basketball players reached double-digits in scoring as the Ospreys defeated Jacksonville State 63-47 Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Comfort Inn Holiday Classic at UNF Arena.

Jadhken Kerr paced the Ospreys with 17 points, hitting five three's. Taylor Smith and Brittany Kirkland added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Meanwhile, Larkira Jones grabbed 11 rebounds.

Danielle Vaughn paced the Gamecocks (3-9) with 10 points. Briana Morrow grabbed a team-best nine boards.

Although Jacksonville State outshot UNF 37.7 (20-for-53) to 33.8 (22-for-65) percent, the Ospreys dominated on the glass and outrebounded the Gamecocks 51-33. UNF pulled down 24 offensive rebounds with 12 coming in each half.

UNF set the pace early in the first half, limiting the Gamecocks to only one field goal in the game's first seven minutes. Kerr put the Ospreys up 14-2 at 13:37 when she hit her third trey of the game. A 10-2 run allowed the Gamecocks to come to within four with 6:27 to go. But UNF's defense limited Jacksonville State to just two field goals as the Ospreys made a 10-4 run to close out the opening half with a 26-16 advantage.

The Ospreys expanded on their lead in the second half. Up by nine, Kerr unleashed back-to-back threes to spark an 11-0 run that put UNF up 43-23 with 12:31 to go. UNF led by as much as 22 on two occasions, including at 8:53 with a jumper from Raneisha Lamar that made it 51-29. Jacksonville State responded with a 14-2 run that brought the Gamecocks to within 10 at 3:45. However, the Ospreys closed out the second half with a 10-4 run in order to come away with a 16-point victory.

UNF will have the next week-and-a-half off before returning to action at Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 28 in Daytona Beach, Fla. It will be the Ospreys' final out-of-conference game of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
