The game remained close throughout the first 20 minutes as there were eight lead changes and three ties. The largest lead from either team was a six-point advantage for the Ospreys. Octavia Langston drilled a three-pointer at 12:09 to put UNF up 16-10. Bethune-Cookman cut UNF's lead down and eventually took a five-point, 25-20 lead with an Elum jumper at 3:52. Three foul shots from Destinee Smith and a Fabiola Josil jumper forced a 25-25 deadlock with 1:38 left. However, Frank sank a pair of free throws in the closing seconds as Bethune-Cookman carried a 27-25 lead into halftime.
In the second half, UNF rallied from an early six-point deficit. Langston swished a three-pointer at 14:48 that sparked a 10-2 Osprey run. That scoring streak put UNF up 39-35 with 12:41 remaining. However, Bethune-Cookman erased the Ospreys' lead, using an 11-1 run to take a 45-40 advantage with at 8:14. UNF chipped away at the Lady Wildcats' advantage and went up by one when Larkira Jones nailed a layup at 2:23 to make it 49-48 in favor of UNF. Two more ties occurred in the closing minutes of regulation, including at 52 seconds when a layup by Roberts knotted the game up at 52-all.
The Lady Wildcats scored the first three points of the first overtime before back-to-back baskets by Taylor Smith put UNF up 56-55 with 2:55 left in the extra session. An Elum gave Bethune-Cookman a two-point advantage at 2:20, but that was short-lived as Jones' layup with 2:00 left deadlocked the game at 58-58.
In the second overtime, UNF overcame a pair of four-point deficits, including at 45 seconds when Jones' layup evened the score at 63-63. However, Bethune-Cookman sealed the win with a layup and a foul shot in the final seconds.
