JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's basketball team returns to UNF Arena on Monday against Coastal Carolina in what will be the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
UNF, who will be playing in just its second home game of the season, will look to pick up its first win. The Ospreys were last in action on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at UMKC. Brittany Kirkland and Jadhken Kerr paced UNF with 14 points each, while Larkira Jones added 12 points in the 100-63 loss to the Kangaroos. During that game, Kirkland became UNF's all-time leader in minutes played with 3,189 career minutes. She entered Tuesday night ranked third all-time and surpassed both Jennifer Guldager (3,188 minutes) and Juliemay Syquio (3,177). Kirkland played 32 minutes against UMKC.
Coastal Carolina plays its second-straight road game on Monday night. The Chanticleers handed Western Carolina a 65-55 defeat on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Coastal Carolina has won its first four games, but only two of those were against Division I opponents. Shatia Cole and Angelica Henry lead the Chanticleers in scoring, averaging 14.5 and 10.3 points per game, respectively. Meanwhile, Shanika Maddock is the team's leader in rebounds (9.3 rpg) and steals (13).
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
