JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –University of North Florida head men's basketball coach Matthew Driscoll announced the addition of Travis Wallace to the Osprey squad for the 2010-11 season.
A 6-6 forward from Marietta, Ga., Wallace transferred to UNF after playing one season at Florida A&M University. Wallace will sit out the 2010-11 campaign to meet NCAA Division I transfer requirements and will then have three seasons to play for the Ospreys.
““We are extremely excited to have Travis join our family,” said Driscoll. “His ability to score around the rim and rebound in traffic coupled with his character made him a must have in our program. During his one year sit out window, he will gain confidence, raise skill level, and learn our program thoroughly.”
Wallace played in 31 games for the Rattlers last season averaging 4.6 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. He also led FAMU in field goal percentage at 49.6 percent. A first-team All-Region performer as a senior at Campbell High School in Smyrna, Ga., Wallace averaged a double-double in each of his final two prep seasons.
UNF opens the 2010-11 season Nov. 4 with an exhibition game against Edward Waters before starting the regular season with six straight road contests. The Ospreys regular season home opener is Dec. 2 versus Florida Gulf Coast.
