Track and Field Wrap Up Weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore Kayla Mobley threw for first place in the discus, breaking UNF's school record at the Spike Classic while the women's 4x400-meter relay team broke the school record at the Pepsi Florida Relays over the weekend.
At the Florida Relays UNF competed against several top-25 schools such as Florida, Florida State, Miami, Mississippi, North Carolina, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
At the Florida Relays, senior Elise Trexler posted a height of 1.70-meters for the second weekend in a row in the high jump to finish 13th.
In the relay events, the women were able to take down UNF's long standing 4x400m record of 3:48.63 with their time of 3:48.25, finishing 21st. UNF's current “A” team is made up of senior Charisma Anderson, junior SaLydia James, freshman Jaybria Calcote and sophomore Kayla Conrad. The previous record holding team from 1996 was made up of Melanie Brown, Katy Gostage, Leanne Moore and current assistant track and field coach Le'Titia Parsons.
For the men, freshman Johnathan Esteban ran a personal best in the 5000m with a 14:50.47, which gave him a 13th place finish in a field of 33 competitors. Shaving 12 seconds off his old time, Esteban's previous time was 15:02.07.
While half the squad was competing in Gainesville, Fla. at the Florida Relays, the other half was down in Daytona Beach, Fla. for the Spike Classic.
In the Spike Classic senior Ashton McGuire threw the javelin 35.21m to pick up first place. Kayla Mobley threw the discus 42.44m breaking her own school record and taking the crown. Mobley also threw the hammer 38.22m, picking up a third place finish.
The men's 4x800 relay team ran the event for the first time this season and came in second-place with a time of 8:02.00. The team was made up of freshmen Aaron Tillman, Nick Squillace, Justin Mims and Ashdon Mills.
The men's 4x100m team pulled out a fourth-place finish breaking the school record once again with their time of 43.84. Freshmen Nick Squillace, Skylar Squillace, Justin Mims and Ashdon Mills made up the record-breaking relay team.
In the pole vault senior Anne DelBovo and Christina King finished in the top five. Delbovo finished tied for third with a height of 3.45 and King finished fifth with a 3.35m vault.
In the sprints, freshman Jasmine Jackson finished third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.07. Freshman Bonnie Stratton and Dellbovo finished fifth and sixth in the 100m dash with times of 12.45 and 12.46, respectively.
