
Ospreys to Host Hatters

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida women's basketball team will host Stetson in an Atlantic Sun Conference match-up on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 4:30 p.m. It is a doubleheader with the UNF men's team which will face SU at 7 p.m. at UNF Arena.
UNF (1-5, 0-1 A-Sun) fell to Florida Gulf Coast in its conference opener on Thursday and is looking to bounce back after the 73-51 defeat. Brittany Kirkland notched 19 points and Juliemay Syquio added 10. Margaret Bell grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
Kirkland leads the Ospreys on the season with 15.5 points per game. Syquio is adding 8.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Larkira Jones leads the team on the boards with 7.7 rebounds per game. Kirkland, Syquio and Jade Givens are all averaging over 2.0 assists per game.
Stetson (2-4, 0-1 A-Sun) dropped a 76-61 decision to Jacksonville in its conference opener. Victoria Gowan led the Hatters with 25 points while Jessica Conner had 11 rebounds and 11 points.
Leading the Hatters is McGowan, averaging 15.2 points per game. Sasha Sims is adding 11.5 points. Conner is grabbing a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game.
This is the 11th meeting between the two teams with the Ospreys holding the 6-4 advantage in the all-time series. Both teams won at home last season. UNF picked up the 42-33 win at UNF Arena on Feb. 11 while the Hatters edged the Ospreys, 58-56 in DeLand, Fla. on Jan. 9.
The Ospreys had a balanced attack against the Hatters last season at UNF Arena with Jadhken Kerr leading with nine points. Syquio had a team-high 12 rebounds.
Single-game tickets for women's basketball games are $10 for adults and $8 for youth 17-and-under, senior citizens 55-and-older, active military and UNF Faculty/Staff. One ticket will admit you to both the women's games and the men's games on those days. Children 2-and-under and any current UNF student with a valid Osprey1 Card are admitted free. Student guest passes for those events are $5 and limited to one per student.
