
UNF Falls to Kennesaw State, 3-0

KENNESAW, Ga. – The University of North Florida volleyball team fell to Kennesaw State, 3-0 (13-25, 16-25, 21-25) on Saturday afternoon in Atlantic Sun competition.
The Ospreys (4-15, 1-3 A-Sun) were led by sophomore Paige Pridgeon with eight kills. Senior Marshay Greenlee added six. Freshman Britt Claessens tallied 22 assists and defensively sophomore Nicole Baran posted nine digs.
For the Owls (10-9, 3-1 A-Sun) Alyssa Lang notched 21 kills and 10 digs. Sara Metroka had 33 assists and Camille Pedraza notched a match-high 17 digs.
The Owls controlled the first set, getting out to a 16-6 lead and never looking back, claiming the set and a 1-0 lead in the match.
In the second set, the Ospreys got out early, taking a 9-5 lead, but the Owls answered and tied the set at 10. The two teams tied three more times with the last coming at 15. KSU closed out the set with a 10-1 run to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
UNF and KSU kept it close in the third set with six ties. The two teams were tied at 15, but KSU opened up the scoring, taking an 18-15 lead. UNF looked to make a run, closing the gap to one at 18-17, but the Owls regained possession and extend their lead to four (22-18). The Ospreys again threatened, pulling to within two at 23-21, but back-to-back kills gave the Owls the need points to claim the set and match.
The Ospreys will be back at home to host A-Sun foes USC Upstate on Friday, Oct. 15 (7 p.m.) followed by East Tennessee State on Saturday, Oct. 16 (3 p.m.). The match against the Bucs will mark UNF's Dig Pink Breast Cancer Awareness match as well as Youth Day.
