
Ospreys to Host a Pair of A-Sun Matches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida volleyball team is set to host USC Upstate and East Tennessee State. UNF will face the Spartans at 7 p.m. on Friday before hosting the Bucs at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the team's annual “Dig Pink” match, supporting breast cancer awareness.
Leading the Ospreys (4-15, 1-3 A-Sun) is sophomore Paige Pridgeon with 3.8 kills per set. Senior Jessica Catelano is adding 2.23 kills and sophomore Dagnija Medina is posting 1.8 kills per set while recording a team leading 59 blocks this season. Freshman Britt Claessens is putting up 8.58 assists per set. Defensively sophomore Nicole Baran is averaging 3.99 digs per set. UNF fell to Mercer (3-1) and Kennesaw State (3-0) last weekend.
Upstate (6-12, 1-3 A-Sun) is coming off a pair of losses to Belmont (3-0) and Lipscomb (3-1). The Spartans are led by Cori Harris with 3.0 kills per set. Kelsie Queen and Katie Downey are adding 2.26 and 2.17, respectively. Emily Sanders is tallying 9.65 assists per set and Megan Healey is tallying 3.85 digs per set.
UNF holds an all-time record of 26-4 over the Spartans. The two teams split the meetings last season with each winning on its respective home court. In last season match at UNF Arena, the Ospreys swept the Sparts, 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-13). Pridgeon averaged 2.12 kills against USC Upstate last season and Baran had 2.25 digs.
ETSU (16-6, 2-1 A-Sun) split last weekend, falling to Lipscomb (3-0) before defeating Belmont (3-2). Megan Devine leads the Bucs with 2.83 kills per set. Desiree Dyck is adding 2.64 kills. Whitney Cogburn is notching 9.36 assists per set. Defensively, Alysa Long has tallied 100 blocks this season and Kiley Tamblyn is averaging 4.20 digs per set.
The Bucs hold the 5-3 all-time record and both teams picked up wins last season at home. UNF claimed the 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23) win at home. Pridgeon had 27 kills against the Bucs last season, averaging 3.38 per set. Baran averaged 4.88 digs per set.
Saturday's match against ETSU will also mark UNF's annual “Dig Pink” match. The Ospreys have teamed up with The Side-Out Foundation to help raise money for breast cancer research and awareness.
