
Volleyball to Face Bethune-Cookman in Road Match

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida volleyball team will take to the road for an out-of-conference match at Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday, Oct. 5 in a 6:30 p.m. contest at Moore Gymnasium in Daytona, Fla.
UNF (3-13, 1-1 A-Sun) split Atlantic Sun contests over the past weekend. The Ospreys defeated Stetson, 3-0 on Friday before falling to Florida Gulf Coast, 3-0 on Saturday.
Leading UNF is sophomore Paige Pridgeon with 3.78 kills while junior Jessica Catelano and freshman Anna Budinska are adding 2.09 and 2.0 kills per set, respectively. Freshman Britt Claessens is putting up 8.71 assists per set. On the defensive side, sophomore Nicole Baran is notching 4.02 digs per set and sophomore Dagnija Medina has notched 46 blocks.
For the Wildcats (4-14), Krysta Gardner leads the team with 2.28 kills per set and Jessica Wilson is adding 2.23 kills. Alexis Bliese is tallying 7.33 assists per set and Jacqueli Woodyear is averaging 3.25 digs per set on the defense.
The Wildcats have had some time off, having faced Western Carolina on Sept. 26 in their last outing. BCU fell, 3-0 to the Catamounts.
UNF holds the all-time series record over BCU with a 9-1 mark. Last season the Ospreys won both meetings between the two teams, 3-0. In the first meeting, during the UCF Invitational, the Ospreys won 25-11, 25-18, 25-22. The two teams met for the second time at UNF with scores of 25-11, 25-12, 25-17. Pridgeon averaged 2.25 kills in the two matches and Baran tallied 2.67 digs per set.
