
Ospreys Hit the Road for a Pair of Matches

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida volleyball team will travel to Nashville, Tenn. for a pair of Atlantic Sun matches beginning with Lipscomb on Friday, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 30, the Ospreys will face Belmont at 3 p.m.
The Ospreys (5-18, 2-4 A-Sun) have had seven days off since their last match, falling to out-of-conference opponent Seattle, 3-1 at home.
Leading UNF this season is sophomore Paige Pridgeon with 3.84 kills per set. Senior Jessica Catelano is adding 2.33 kills while freshman Anna Budinska and sophomore Dagnija Medina are adding 1.86 and 1.89 per set, respectively. Britt Claessens is putting up 8.86 assists per set. Defensively, Nicole Baran is tallying 4.16 digs per set while Medina has notched 71 blocks this season.
Lipscomb (16-6, 5-0 A-Sun) leads the league, but fell to the Big East's Louisville, 3-0 in their last outing. The Bisons are led by Alex Kelly with 4.26 kills per set. Kaycee Green is adding 2.77 and Meghan Hinemeyer is posting 2.72 kills per set. Jake Pease is putting up 11.42 assists per set. Kelly also leads on the defensive side with 3.57 digs per set and a team-high 55 blocks this season.
The Ospreys are 2-5 against the Bisons all-time. Lipscomb picked up 3-0 wins in both matches last season. Pridgeon led with 2.83 kills per set over the two matches while Baran averaged 3.5 digs per set.
Following the weekend conference series, the Ospreys will be back at home for a mid-week out-of-conference match against Georgia Southern on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. in UNF Arena.
Belmont (9-13, 3-2 A-Sun) defeated Campbell, 3-0 in the team's last outing. Leading the Bruins is Kayla Albritton with 3.52 kills per set while Maggie Johnson is adding 3.34 kills per set. Hannah Miranda is tallying 10.25 assists per set and on the defensive side Megan Clements is averaging 3.61 digs per set.
The Bruins hold the 6-1 advantage over the Ospreys in the all-time series. Belmont won both meetings between the two teams last season with a 3-1 win in Nashville and a 3-2 victory in Jacksonville. Pridgeon led the Ospreys, averaging 2.78 kills per set in the two matches.
