
UNF Track and Field Ready for ERAU Challenge

The ERAU Challenge will take place at the Embry-Riddle track which is a 400-meter Mondo Super X performance track with eight lanes. The meet is open to the public with both the field events and the track events starting at 10 a.m. (click here for the meet schedule).
“We have had the majority of our athletes training for the past five to six months and by scheduling this meet now we can get our athletes ready and in a competitive atmosphere before the start of our indoor season,” said head track and field coach Mark VanAlstyne.
The events on Saturday will be run using indoor distances even though the meet will be outdoor (click here for the performance list). Webber, Embry-Riddle and Nova Southeastern are a few of the teams aside from
Last year, the Ospreys opened up its outdoor season at home at the UNF Spring Break Open. Sophomore Brooke Baumann captured first-place in the 800m (2:18.51). Junior Charisma Anderson took third in both the 100m and the 200m. Senior Anne Delbovo (pole vault) and Laura Ragland in the (800m) also claimed third place finishes in the meet.
Baumann will run the 1000m.
On the men's side, junior Will Pearce, who was an Atlantic Sun Conference champion last year in the 1500m, will run the mile and the 5000m. Last season Pearce started off the outdoor track season with a second-place finish in the 1500m. Junior Noah Thompson, who was a Third Team All-Conference selection, will compete in the pole vault event on Saturday.
Another event to watch out for will be the men's 4x400m relay which will be made up of all newcomers to the 2010 track and field squad. Freshmen Ashdon Mills, Justin Mims and Nick and Skylar Squillace will make up the relay team.
