
UNF Volleyball to Host a Pair of A-Sun Contests

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida volleyball team will host Stetson on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. and the Ospreys will host Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, Sept. 26 in a 3 p.m. match. Both matches will take place at UNF Arena.
The Ospreys (5-6, 1-3 A-Sun) are home for just the second and third times this season. Leading the team is junior outside hitter Kaley Read, averaging 3.98 kills per set. Junior outside hitter Danielle Lerch is adding 2.54 kills per set while freshman outside hitter Paige Pridgeon is averaging 2.06. Junior setter Jessica Catelano is putting up 9.27 assists per set. On the defensive side, Pridgeon and Read are averaging 2.44 and 2.31 digs per set, respectively.
For the Hatters (0-11, 0-5 A-Sun) Kaylee Ream is leading the team with 1.69 kills per set. Kelli Carneal is adding 1.67 kills per set. Carneal is also leading the team with 4.92 assists per set. Anna Becker is leading on the defensive side with 2.31 digs per set.
North Florida leads the all-time series against Stetson, 7-3. Last season the two teams split, with each team winning on their opponent's home court. The Ospreys won 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20) in DeLand. The Hatters picked up the 3-1 win (21-25, 20-25, 25-18, 19-25) at UNF. Read averaged five kills per set for the Ospreys in the two meetings against Stetson last season.
Florida Gulf Coast (6-6, 5-1 A-Sun) is being led by a quartet of attackers. Jelen Simic is posting 3.35 kills per set. Anna Wagner is adding 2.67 kills while Emma Racila is putting down 2.32 kills per set. Jacqueline Cowden rounds out the attackers averaging two or more kills per set with 2.12. Chandra Lefever is averaging 9.57 assists per set while on the defensive side Holly Youngquist is tallying 4.22 digs per set.
Florida Gulf Coast holds the 6-2 advantage over the Ospreys in the all-time series including two wins last season. Lerch led the Ospreys against the Eagles last season, averaging 2.83 kills per set in the two matches.
Single-game tickets volleyball matches are $5 for adults and $3 for youth 17-and-under and senior citizens 55-and-older. Children 2-and-under and any current UNF student with a valid Osprey1 Card are admitted free. Student guest passes for those events are $3 and limited to one per student.
