
Volleyball Hosts USC Upstate in A-Sun Home Opener

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of North Florida volleyball team will host Atlantic Sun foe USC Upstate in its 2009 home opener on Saturday, Sept. 19. Game time is set for 3 p.m. in UNF Arena.
Junior middle blocker Kaley Read is leading the Ospreys (4-6, 0-3 A-Sun) with 3.85 kills per set. Junior outside hitter Danielle Lerch is adding 2.12 kills and freshman outside hitter Paige Pridgeon is posting 2.09 kills per set while tallying a team-best 2.36 digs per set. Setters Jessica Catelano and Julie Fye are averaging 8.77 and 4.19 assists per set, respectively.
Leading the Spartans (3-8, 0-4 A-Sun) is Kelsie Queen with 2.60 kills per set. Paige Weiland is adding 2.21 kills per set and Erin Jacobson is putting 2.05 kills. Morgan Bucciferro is averaging 5.05 assists per set, while on the defensive side Megan Healey is tallying 3.45 digs per set.
North Florida holds the all-time record at 25-3 vs. Upstate. The two teams met three times last season with the Ospreys winning two of the three contests. Read averaged 4.57 kills against the Spartans last season while senior outside hitter Agata Dawidowica averaged 2.93 kills.
Single-game tickets volleyball matches will be $5 for adults and $3 for youth 17-and-under and senior citizens 55-and-older. Children 2-and-under and any current UNF student with a valid Osprey1 Card are admitted free. Student guest passes for those events are $3 and limited to one per student.
